“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

Socialist Party presidential candidate Norman Thomas

The new American reality

Well, I guess this is the new reality of what America actually is rather than what we'd like to think she is. We like to think we live in a nation of self reliance, individualism, hard work, and independence. The new reality is that we live in a nation with a majority derelict class who cares not for freedom and self determination, but only agitates for bigger government to provide for them from cradle to grave at the expense of people better than them.

Say goodbye to the shining city on the hill and say hello to just another mediocre, European nanny-State. Goodbye to prosperity, hello to dependence. Goodbye to freedom, hello to rampant regulation. Goodbye to optimism and verve, hello to anxiety and ominousness.

The National Review is wringing their hands over Romney's defeat, and offers up a plethora of articles explaining why this happened.

Yet none of these articles dare mention the GOP leadership's railroading of Ron Paul out of the nomination, despite his wide grassroots support, and the shoving of a manufactured candidate down our throats who had so little grassroots support they had to fake the photos of his rallies to enlarge the crowds.

This is a repeat of 2008, in which Ron Paul, again with a clear advantage on grass roots support, was edged out of the race so that John McCain and Caribou Barbie could walk to the nomination.

Twice in a row is no accident, and for many Republican voters, it was a slap in the face. As a result, many Republican voters, myself included, simply stayed home yesterday out of sheer disgust.

You did it to yourselves, GOP, and we have no sympathy for you at all.

Isaac, I wonder how bad it has to get before the GOP is even willing to consider a libertarian as a valid candidate? Sadly, I doubt it can ever get bad enough.
