Ryan, Romney, and Bush.....three peas in a pod?

As astute reader Isaac noted, Paul Ryan certainly comes across as a TEA Party hero, but how does his voting record jive with the small-government, low-spending, limited gov't-intrusion-in-markets positions embraced by the TEA Party. Well, not so well it turns out......

From IVN -- According to the Wisconsin Republican Liberty Caucus, the Wisconsin congressman actually voted with the Bush Administration’s agenda of unprecedented federal expansion 94% of the time, and it may surprise his fiscally conservative fans to know that Paul Ryan’s voting record includes votes for the TARP bailouts, the auto bailouts, the massive Bush Medicare expansion, the unprecedented federal intrusion into public education via No Child Left Behind, the 2008 stimulus package, and the $192B 2009 stimulus package.

There are a lot of otherwise good conservatives who because of political pressure and the phony popular desperation fomented by the media, voted for TARP, Stim. I-II, auto bailouts, etc. But even I have to admit, that if you are a "good conservative" then how can you vote for any of those things.

I would not have voted for anything on the list above, my constituency and the frothing media be damned.

Let's face it, Romney and Ryan are closer to big-government, compassionate conservatives in the mold of Bush, than they are Gary Johnson libertarians. I'm bummed about that, but I just think Obama would be far worse than even big-government republicans....as much as I despise big-government "conservatives".

Thanks Isaac for the question, though I suspect you knew the answer before you asked it.
