I think the Tea Party movement should resist high-level organization as was on display in Nashville last week. It will be much more effective as a true, grass-roots movement of individuals, if it is organized at the local level only.
Watching the coverage, it felt like just another republican party convention with all the compromising and platitudes that go along with it....the very things that we resented about the republican party as it currently is. Resisting high-level organization and instead, voting our consciences locally will keep the movement alive, powerful, and influential. Becoming a national, party-like movement, indistinguishable from the republican party, will de-energize the tea-party base...exactly what democrats and liberal republicans want to happen.

Nationalization will also turn Palin into a Perot. In fact, if she pulls out a white board you'd better run.
I tend to like Palin but the country needs brains not someone you'd encounter at the neighborhood swim meet.
Dave, I agree. By aligning herself with this self-proclaimed Tea-Party organization, Saracuda is risking overexposure, that is if she has future electoral aspirations.
I like her too and she can certainly serve to galvanize the movement for as long as she wants but, I'm not sure she would hold up to a campaign for national office. Maybe in 8 or 12 years, having established herself as a serious, senior statesman on policy, she could consider a national campaign.
Palin got caught refering to notes written on the palm of her hand! Not only does this look like something ripped from the "Fast Time at Ridgemont HS" script it makes her look unprepared if not dishonest.
Proof that woman are not immune to boners.

If she's going to be taken seriously as a statesman, she'll need to be a lot shorter on hype, personality, and cult-like following, and longer on hard facts to support her sound-bite, tea-party platitudes. Still, she might be too damaged already to be taken seriously by the media as a national candidate. Here's hoping Pennsylvania holds a special election to replace ABSCAM-Jack and the conservative movement scores another big one.
I just have one point to make about Palin. Look at the amazing level of hatred directed at her by the Democrats and national media (redundant). These folks will tell you whom they fear, a smarter man than I has made that point. She drives them crazy and "Palin Derangement Syndrome" is a worthy successor to "Bush Derangement Syndrome."
Regarding writing notes on her hand, our President can't talk to kids without "Mr 'prompter."
I agree Bill that she certainly scares the crap out of the libs or they wouldn't bother attacking her like they do. I'll give her that. I just think she's going to have to get a lot more technical and detailed with her positions and get away from the sound-bite, campaign rhetoric....something Obama hasn't managed to do yet.
Regardless of all the problems, the core of the Republican party see her as a person of force. As long as she keeps her skirt clean (pun intended) she will be the front runner in the next primary season. I think she will get smarter and more savy at all the media issues, but she doesnt ever want to lose the down home charm taht has gotten her here. Remember they picked her from left field this last tiome. Somebody's got something up their sleeve!

Judson Phillips, the organizer of the convention should not have been charging more than he needed to rent the hall and other expenses. Sarah Palin should have done it for no charge.
What were they thinking? Do they want to grow the movement, or are they trying to get in front of it as Ed has said, to take charge of it as Elitists? As the ones who are leading the Republican party now?
They are asking for a third party if they keep that crap up.
They need to start using their heads and make money doing something else. Judson Phillips is a lawyer/ambulance chaser. what else should we expect?
Right you are escomments. As soon as we get too organized, we stop being a grass-roots movement. High-level organization is unnecessary in a national movement that is based on individuals voting with common-sense, conservative principles, and the Constitution. Plus, it gives the MSM an easy target to attack.
