“The American people will never knowingly adopt Socialism. But under the name of ‘liberalism’ they will adopt every fragment of the Socialist program, until one day America will be a Socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.”

What's in Ed's CD player this week?

I know you're out there in your office or riding around in your car thinking, "I wonder what Ed's listening to on his CD player this week."

Well it's not the most cutting edge music there is, but it is an eclectic collection if nothing else...some new stuff, some old stuff, and some obscure stuff.

Here it is, in no particular order,

Forever Blue -- Chris Isaak
One by One -- Foo Fighters
This is a Recording -- Flim and the BB's
Copy of a bootlegged Rush concert
Outlandos d'Amour -- Police
C'mon C'mon -- Sheryl Crow
White Ladder -- David Gray
Uh-Oh -- David Byrne
Morph the Cat -- Donald Fagan
Cascade -- Peter Murphy

Leave your list in the comment area for public consumption and ridicule. We're looking for the most recent 5-10 CD's only...not your fav's...be honest.

Mazzy Star? Never heard of her. Is that country?

It's a group not a person. Kinda like Steeley Dan. I would classify them as dark alternative music which apparently I favor. Google or iTunes ought to be able to answer your questions more fully.

Cool! I'll check them out.

I think tortured artists render the best music for whatever reason. When Lindsey Buckingham was asked to join up with Fleetwood Mac and insisted on bringing his girlfriend Stevie Nicks, the ensuing drama surrounding the affairs, cheating, and lying among band members provided them with the song material, turmoil, and angst that all artists need to release their creativity.

But what am I, a music critic?

When I said Mazzy Star was "like" Steeley Dan I meant the naming convention. The music is NOT like SD. Sorry for the bewilderment.

So what is the music like?

All I need is a large breakfast from Awful House to release my creativity. I just hope I can get home before the urge overpowers me.

Dupree: haunting, is the best way I can describe the music. But what am I a music critic?
